About the project

This research was funded by the Priority Research Area Heritage under the program Excellence Initiative – Research University at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

The project related to the website’s creation is a product of Polish studies of Hryhoriy Skovoroda’s heritage in connection with the 350th anniversary of the birth of this eminent Ukrainian thinker and religious poet, falling in 2022, as well as the approaching 150th anniversary of the first mention of Skovoroda in Adam Honory Kirkor’s work entitled On the literature of brotherly Slavic nations (1874), published in Kraków. That work initiated a rich and important tradition of research into the history of Ukrainian literature and philosophical thought at the Jagiellonian University, which needs to be remembered, preserved and continued.

The aim of our project, therefore, is to collect and present the research of Polish scholars, as well as works by representatives of other scholarly traditions that have been published in Poland. This website contains:

  • Hryhoriy Skovoroda’s outline biography
  • A bibliography of the philosopher’s works
  • A repository of works devoted to his philosophical thought and literary works
  • A bibliography of works in Skovoroda studies that have appeared in Poland

In this way, we hope to contribute to popularising the study of H. Skovoroda’s philosophy in Poland and to expanding the knowledge of the life and work of this Ukrainian thinker.

This project would not have been possible without the cooperation of the following team members:

  • Denys Pilipowicz, PhD, Assistant Professor at the Department of Polish-Ukrainian Studies, Faculty of International and Political Studies, Jagiellonian University – denys.pilipowicz@uj.edu.pl
  • Łukasz Kantor – University Portal Section, Jagiellonian University
  • Oleksandra Rudieva – student at the Department of Polish-Ukrainian Studies
